East Meets West 188: Never is not ever never
--listening to podcast--
VVVV after listening to podcast VVVV
Harry Potter 7 was awexome I went out at 12 for the first time and almost read it nonstop for 1.5 days. I went to meijer (a grocery store in case they don't have them out west) the books stores were quite crowded. no one spoiled me but there are several videos on youtube of buttheads going around and spoiling people with the leaked text. I hope the person who leaked it goes to jail.

re: the harry potter setup - roger ask tom about that idea when he finishes the book.
I think that you should talk about your past, and present pets! Just an idea...love the podcast - keep up the good work! :) Also, I don't take the bus, don't like..never have; and San Antonio is a big city. (Not as big as SF..but w/e)
Flash Developers anyone? (Virtual Conference) LOL.
Roger, I also hate fly too.
I think Tom needs a new laptop...MacBook perhaps? Also, why not a new ThinkPad - 'X' Series?
Every Harry Potter fan I know is above the "tween" age. With each book, the plots become too dense for younger kids.
Where I live, almost all of the Public and Charter school kids take buses.
Tom- be sure to tell us what you thought of Deathly Hallows. I read it from four in the afternoon until four in the morning. Loser, I know. Did you cry? Come on, it's alright, we're all friends here. I teared up twice and balled once. The end of an era, you know?
What does a 406 error mean to you Tom and Roger?
Who in the fricken is Ben Gold? He is stalking me!
I still can't believe Dustin Diamond is well hung like he says he is. Tom, Roger, Go out into the field and investigate this......
I'd be willing to show up at a pizza joint and visit with everyone. Except for the long long drive. How could we do this? Create a map with push pins?
Lots of mumbling again!
I wish I had all of the Starsky and Hutch s on the iPod. Tom, Roger, When do YOU think we will get a wide screen version of the iPod? I think by Christmas!
I say sue!!!!!! They stole that Welcome back Potter from you! No doubt about it!!
I'll back you up on that in court for $210,000. Just call me! Oh for $300,000 I'll shave, shower and dress for court!
Oh no TOM, Your getting a check! I spent lots of time hunting for a button! Your getting a Stinking Check! I found you on Google Streets and will keep tracking you down.....
I'd also like to mention that in New Jersey, the vast majority of school buses that I have seen are "Short buses." I found that to be super weird.
So Tom, when do you think H'wood will get around to making Tenspeed & Brownshoe: the motion picture?
On the bus subject: I rode the yellow school bus through 9th grade (my borther got his liscense, then I got mine 2 years later)... our school was 4 miles away and to get there we go on a [very] very [/very] busy road that runs along the front of a theme park -- about 50% of the district lives on this side of the park, biking is out of the question at 7AM. I live 20 miles outside of Cincinnati and just about every district around here has a full arsenal of buses.
Ohio doesn't really give a care about education so the districts are way underfunded and busing is usually, unfortunately the first thing to be cut along with the arts and tech. Never happened in our district but I've seen it in several others.
What does "acedtect" stand for?
Just curious!
Love the show, keep up the good work;
Richard
I grew up in Columbus, not a BIG city, but one with a pretty big school system. I rode a bus for 5 days of Kindergarten, thats it. Rest of the time I either walked, or took the bus.
I enjoy. I'm hooked.
Thank-you
Why don't you talk about Barry Bonds?
Has Roger threaten to leave the podcast if you talk about it?
I figure:
- You've been saving up for the right moment ... for # 756
- The story is overkill and you're sick of hearing about it.
or
- You hate him and the Giants.
I'm just curious about the local take on the story especially from the tech community.
Do you hang out at PacBell each night plugged into their wifi?
I have a question if it's not OT. I was wondering how big/small the SF tech och media community is since everyone seems to know each other? And everyone seems to have worked for ZD or Cnet at one time,
Secondly I wondered how comicon was roger? I have always wanted to go to such an convention, No real good ones in my part of the world.
My daughter, age 6, just finished the 7th Harry Potter book. She blew through the entire series in just under 4 months (she started in mid-April with the first book) and loved 'em. Now I need to find something else to challenge her with. The movies are getting a little dark for her though, even though she's already read the books. It's one thing to see it in your mind's eye and quite another to see it for "real."
1. Harry Potter is not for everyone. I may read them if I ever get the time, but somehow the subject matter just doesn't seem to attract me. My wife and one of my sons have read them all and will, no doubt, read this one and bore the rest of us to tears talking about it.
2. Roger, please remember good mic technique. When you start to raise your voice, please move the microphone away slightly. Many singers have to learn this or just have a good sound engineer to ride herd on the sliders. Most of the time when you are recording from Tom's house you are over-modulating. When you record at the studio the compression kicks in and evens out the highs and lows of the volume.
3. Tom love the new site design...very clean!
Back to unpacking from weekend trip to Tahoe. Everyone should go up there! The burn area is hardly noticeable and it seems the locals could use the business. The Lake looks great and very blue.
dougwalk in Livermore
Did you ever get your laptop mouse button fixed? If so - HOW!? I have a newish (most likely out of warranty) HP DV6119us and I kinda spilled a beer on it... pulled the whole thing apart and everything is in tip top shape except - you guessed it - mouse buttons... I have no idea how to "repair" them, order a new pair, or get them working at all... help?
